Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

Luke 2:22-40 or 2:22-32

Looking up at the sky overhead on a clear night is an awesome sight! The number of stars, the beautiful sight, has been a wonder for scientists and is a source of inspiration for poets and believers! What is even more special is to realize that of all those possible sites, God chose to send His only Son to us here on this Earth!

God did not need to create us, but He chose to do so and so He created man. He declared that this was good! We know from history that the human race went astray, and that God chose to send His Son to set us free from the bondage of sin! He did not need to do this. You can go on and on with examples of how good God has been to us as you read through scripture.

Today's gospel reading describes the early life of Jesus, and concludes with the phrase that:
"The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom;
and the favor of God was upon him." (Luke 2:40)
